Soul Beckons

your voice so strained,

my heart held on,

waited all day just to find out what I knew all along.

echo of a thousand sorrows in my mind,

hope kept alive,

like a small child staring out a broken window,

waiting,

longing,

aching for the embrace of strong arms.

vigil so silent,

pain hollows places deep within.

no longer pretending you will be there,

no longer asking the questions,

still needing the answers.

love you from a place so big,

crippled heart begs another dance,

hand in hand,

eyes wide open.

the child inside will never stop longing,

this emptiness will always churn.

like a caged bird that still keeps singing,

my soul searches in a place that is darker then hell.

hold on to the air,

chase the water,

catch the sun,

innocence is like a joke to one so hardened.

kept on trying,

insides dying,

kept on loving,

and still this longing…

There are some things that seem beyond explanation,

places on our journey that can only be felt.

So let the questions be asked,

can the not knowing be enough?
